This morphs into EV take up if you purchase one surely, as the current you draw while charging you EV is the same as SIX households will use in a 24hr period. You also have world experts like Prof Paul Anderson saying Lithium storage batteries should not exist because they are so volatile at temps exceeding 70c. Our road surfaces regularly get that hot in summer and the EV battery is just a few cm above the surface of the road as it is the floor pan for the EV car. Any current draw increases that temp.
Bolting a large lithium storage battery to the side of your house seems nearly as risky, what do you think?
Technology and A.I. scare the living daylights out of me. I am getting inundated with webinars and seminars for A.I. in business. That field is escalating.
A friend of mine told me last week she is working as part of a team to rid 70 people in jobs in their large I.T. organisation in favour of A.I. initiatives. The company have gone mad on it.
It all got me to thinking we are going to be inundated with this $h*t in the near future and I for one have had enough of all this new, fast moving technology already.
It is all a bit too much for mine and is purely based on the big company's growing bigger and increasing their profits at the expense of the little guy - us.
32km per day at 0.25kWh per km x 365 days = 2,920kWh per year to power your EV.
We use about 4,000kWh per year to power everything in our Unit (no gas in our block of units).
A couple of decades ago (same building) we were using about 7,000kWh per year at home.
So if we had an EV we would be using about the same total kWh. So same energy requirements as a few decades ago, but now including an EV. Even actually a bit ahead!
The sort of numbers any preschooler can do on the back of a soggy envelope.

Pretty hard to believe, actually BS, as this was the reason the majority were receiving a $200 saving, others $400, and it was what they actually agreed to. Their Air Cons also have to have the special DRED or Peaksmart feature enabled, these Air Cons were also purchased under the $1000 QLD Appliance upgrade rebate. Nobody knew this???
Yes its a good idea if your concerns are based on saving money, it's not a conspiracy, they need your approval to apply any controls.

Energy Australia advised us that they were changing meter to smart meter. I requested information on benefits to me - The couldn't/wouldn't tell me the rates for each 5 minute charging period, nor rate variances for daylight saving vs E.S.T. differing rates for day of the week or any extenuating weather conditions.
Needless to say we still have original meters (off peak and standard rate).

I have a smart meter. No choice. In the ACT if the energy company deems your ordinary meter is not working properly they can replace it. Unfortunately for you, the only replacement is a smart meter.
The old meters are so fundamentally a basic they can't go wrong. If they tell you they are faulty then it is BS to put it politely.
If you are going to be charged per 5 minutes. Then you need to install a corresponding system that you can program to shut off equipment on order of priority per unit cost. Fair is fair.
Quite frankly, fridge, dish washer, washing machine, showers (within reason), cooking (high energy meals, can be shifted to more economical parts of the day.
When camping we took 2 thermos flasks (proper glass ones, with modified additional insulation), so we could boil water in one go to last us a day. It was more about avoiding fluffing around but it has the effect of shifting energy usage.
P.S. if you have an electric hot water tank, add extra insulation.
(80L Rheem Stella which is more energy efficient than standard tanks. Also added insulation to reduce the daily 1.7kWh heat loss to a whisker under 1.0kWh per 24 hours standby heat loss)

It all comes down to govt control and loss of privacy.
Just looking at my blood test results. all OK unless.. you go by the new NVDPA Targets (I don't think they have been passed into law yet). But they are being quoted by the pathology company on the blood test reports and therefore probably most likely to come in to general use for medical standards.
According to these NVDPA guidelines, I now have diabetes, High cholesterol and kidney issues. I guess it will support the medical predictions narrative of ever increasing costs.
Where it directly fits for me is I will be turning 75 next month and Doctors must report, along with heart issues, eye problems, diabetes on the fitness for driving medical. Funny because I don't yet require glasses. Diabetes affects eyesight doesn't it?
They can't stop you driving because of ageism but they certainly can on medical grounds. Guess it fits the various conspiracy theories of not wanting people to have or to drive cars. Raising (or is it lowering) the criteria could eliminate lots of people from driving. At the monent it is only noted on your licence. For how long? and what else could be added?
At the very least the Govt will have a lot of data on a lot of people's medical issues. Something that was supposedly private between you and your doctor. It still is, unless the Govt desires the info.
Sorry if this is a bit off topic, but it seemed to fit with how the Govt can control what we use energy wise through the introduction of tech.

Other half is in dialysis at RNSH (Royal North Shore Hospital) 3 days a week (then all the other tests). I can't praise the nurses enough.
But it is interesting that my health record comes up. Nurses have commented on mine a number of times. Even a few references to my sister. The system cross references is very thoroughly documented.
Not complaining as such, but it is interesting the cross referencing.
My current project is sorting out Valentine's Day gift for all the nurses in the dialysis ward (one is on leave having a baby... I had nothing to do with that one... as much as wished... at least on the initial aspects!) A couple of nurses who I have embarrassing forgot their name (old age memory) even though we are basically family after a few years. We help each other on dialysis procedures to minimise the nurses' work load. I always hope that everything works smoothly each day. Yesterday brought them some raspberries, which that said we're very nice. Previous week a bunch of flowers for nurses counter (I am not the only one).
