But how many trees are chopped down every year to make these posts? Are such large posts really necessary, especially when these trees could be sequestering carbon from the atmosphere? Could these posts be half the size and still perform the same function? Would an iron post have a smaller carbon footprint? Was the requisite approval obtained before these trees were cut down? Was there an environmental impact study? Were any native animals displaced from their habitats?

Were the local Indigenous consulted and then paid the appropriate lopping levy?

The second barbed wire from the top has failed. Possibly imported rubbish.

I did use this fence post image for politics (deleted actual political comments as we are not allowed to comment on politics, fair enough).

But let's say, to take the politics out of it:

Every situation straddles the fence with entities views. Politicians, Wifey for example, or maybe just even on the very extreme remote razor edge slight chance the husband, but obviously got distracted by other critical issues.

Anyway, photo is between Blinman & Chambers Gorge.

Thanks everyone for your input. Interesting discussion, but as you know, we try to steer clear of politics on this forum. I think we'll close this down now.
