I'm sure many of you have fitted water filtration systems to your caravan. I live in my caravan and I am looking for an ECONOMICAL water filtration system. Please tell me about your system, or the system you would recommend.
I suppose if you buy a water filtration for a home you would need mains water pressure to operate it? Maybe the undersink pump could do it. Like the op said on counter filtration jug sounds better
We use a 10" twin filter system in the OKA that is after the RV pump and before the taps.
The first cartridge is a 5um sediment filter just to keep most of the muck from the second cartridge which is a 0.5um carbon block filter.
The RV pump is quite adequate to operate it with plenty of flow.
The whole thing costs less than $100 and a pair of replacement filters costs under $40 about once a year.
Cheers,
Peter
I've looked into this before, but the cost of the cartridges seem extraordinary. But given the odd places we fill our tanks from, I think a water filter on the drinking water tap would be a good idea.
I tend to purchase according to the specification, not the brand. Good quality carbon block filters can cost upwards from $35 each. That is the important one. I have purchased the sediment filters at under $5 each. The attraction to these filters is that the replacement cartridges are readily available, even from Bunnings. www.bunnings.com.au/stefani-0-5-micron-ultra-fine-universal-replacement-cartridge-250mm_p5090024
It is also important that the water in your tanks is chlorinated. If it is not chlorinated town water when we fill, we add extra chlorine. Cheers, Peter
ps... Purtec is a well respected brand, but tends to be expensive.

I fitted a filter unit at the caravan kitchen sink both in my previous pop-top and current van. Bought the units from Bunnings. Bought the 0.5 micron cartridges on Ebay.
