Goodbye from an old member

Well, lots of things have occurred since I last visited this site.

Most tragic of all was the sudden passing of my Darling Wife in March this year 2026.

At my age of 85, we had decided that we would sell our one and only ever Van and 4WD this year and enjoy our new life in our Lifestyle village close to our beautiful Daughter at Victoria Point Qld.

Well, that is happening but not in the circumstances that we envisaged.

The much loved and well travelled Jayco 21'6" Wesport (done >200,000km - all bitumen at < 95km/hr) that we purchased new in 1999, has gone to a new and very enthusiastic owner about to start their caravanning adventure. I took the opportunity to add sweeteners to the deal, including all of my caravanning gear - cutlery, crockery, cooking stuff, Privacy screens, Annex walls, tote tank, Engel, gas cookers, recliners, tables, Gazebo etc etc. The list goes on forever.   My garage is much cleaner now and the new owner is delighted to get all the 'stuff'.  Got an excellent price for it too from the first and only looker - without advertising it.

The next job that I am finding it emotionally hard to do is to sell my faithful 1996 Nissan Patrol GQ 4.2efi Waggon.  Had it from 1998 (@40,000km) & with only 295,000 Km on the clock & in great condition, I'm sure it will be an easy job.  I have a young relo very much into 4WDriving very interested in helping move it on.

Then there's the two beaut Kayaks to go.  We live on the water but I'm a bit past kayaking.

So that's it for me and Caravanning.

I have fantastic memories of Caravanning and the great people that I have met along the way.  I learnt a tremendous amount from lots of beautiful, friendly and knowledgeable people on this forum and its administrator over the 20 years of my membership.  Several of those friendships endure still.  I may just pop back for a bit of nostalgia from time to time.

Thank you all for your Friendship, assistance & tolerance over the years.

I wish you all Good Health, Long Life and safe, enjoyable caravanning over the years to come.

Graham Cupitt aka Cupie  (with a tear in my eye)
