Do land Cruiser Utes come with free wheeling hubs as standard. Does that mean every time you want 4wd, you have to stop and manually engage the hubs?

We've folded up the middle seats in our Pajero and I'm contemplating actually removing one of them, mainly as a weight saving. Anyone have links to road rules that either say it's clearly illegal? or that it's legal?

He said not to use the handbrake because people forget it's on and wreck the brakes. I asked him how it works...
