While I am away from my machine I am making a 3 tier veil for my daughter's wedding. I have beaded around the scalloped edge with a silk/rayon chain stitch. Any suggestions how to condense the top? Even though I've taken it in (I cut it from the pattern of my veil) so it is not quite as bulky as I had it, it stil...

As a follow on from my "cot quilt" post, a number of men replied telling us of their interesting crafty skills. Do we have any other men on the Forum who sew, knit, embroider etc? Do any women do what we traditionally think of as "men's crafts"? Would love to see photos of your work....

I love TROVE, and if you haven't explored it you are missing out. Our family history is full of stories, and some I can validate, some I can't. Great grandfather went gold mining, so the story went, and left the wife and kids behind. When she hadn't heard from him for a while, great grandmother went looki...

Well, I never thought I'd achieve 6 finished quilts in a year but I guess I stayed home a bit more this year. The first was started last year - a candlewick quilt which I hand quilted. The second was a quilt I'd been working on for a while having saved the fabrics for ages - the rose quilt, also handquilted. T...

I have discovered that I have a lot to learn about quilts and patchwork!!!! After being stuck in the mud in Victoria this month, and battling to keep it out of the van, I decided to try to make a few rag rugs to cover the carpet with, and which are easy washed (or rinsed in a creek). Anyone done this, or have a pattern?
