Researching bespoke van fitout.

This post is more about caravan building than GNing. I am kinda thinking aloud rather than making a specific point and would welcome anyone's two bob's worth. I am presently fitting out an old van to live/travel in. I envisage a 50k/day longstay freecamp lifestyle. I am solo and have a Cruiser / 24 fo...

CPs at Port Augusta, SA
(Preview)
Port Augusta is the main portal for people travelling by road from one side of Aust to the other (east/west). The one CP at Port Augusta charges $45 a night - and not much to show for all that money. The Shire wont allow free camping so that CP has a captive market. But about 40 km on the eastern side of PA, th...

Cleaning the Van
(Preview)
Just cleaned the van. I used a long ladder to climb up on top of the van and then placed a couple of 1m X 1 m pieces of plywood on roof for me to stand on. Spread the weight evenly and no issues re weight. Used a bucket and mop detergent and did a good job. I sure would like to be able to get that wet look all over the...

Old Scrubbers.
(Preview)
Save all your old toothbrushes, green and yellow pot scourers, etc. Can be used for scrubbing footwear and anything else that doesn't need clean water, plus nooks and crannies around the wheels. Use you old dishwash water and have a good old scrub. I've just done my (foot) thongs. Came up well.

Have finished the installation and thought I'd share with whoever was interested. Also ordered a muffler which didn't quite fit the exhaust pipe. Had a sta...
