Cleaning stained diesel heater tank

Hi All Have a white 5 litre diesel tank which was 3/4 full (its under a cover )- we havent used van for 4 months and now the diesel has stained the plastic I have drained diesel - does anyone have any suggestions how to clean Thanks in advance
