We need a bit of advice from the world of caravanners. We have just (on the first day of Melbournes stage three lockdown back in July) bought a new caravan. Having spent the lockdown periods "making it ours" (a few little nice additions and modifications) now its time to prepare for travel. This invol...

Hopkins 20100 Break-away unit
(Preview)
As my van didn't have a break-away unit fitted (just under the 2000kg GTM requirement), I bought a break_away kit with intentions of installing it "soon". Long story, cut short. Somewhere along the path, I may have connected the battery leads in reverse. It doesn't work. Pin out, brakes are on - good;...

Mains pressure feed - Jayco
(Preview)
Hi fellow Jayco owners, My van has one of those three way water inlets - 2 low pressure tank inlets & one mains pressure. The latter hose will not stay on the fitting, squirting water all over the place. I think there is a non-return valve, possibly a pressure limiter somewhere in the feed. Someone s...

Water Filter storage
(Preview)
Hi GreyNomads, Came up with a great way to store that fantastic piece of water quality enhancement device. Using Ramset Nylon Anchor 5mm x 20m/m and 50m/m Terry Clips, I attached it to my storage boot back wall out of the way and up high from critters. If anyone is interested in doing the same, if you want...

Caravan house batteries

We have enjoyed 4 years of trouble free off grid caravaning with our secondhand 2012 model caravan. I suspect one of the 2 batteries is not performing as well as the other and we are possibly going to replace both at a cost of somewhere between $800 & $900. There is blue and a black brand choices, bot...

Slide on camper bed arrangement - odd to say the least

Just managed to get the pop top up (with a strong mans help) and found that the mattress has to be folded over (has a fold point for this purpose), so that the bed can be lifted up to get access to the storage space (100mm deep but better than nothing) below. Innovative perhaps, but certainly not user frien...

My van has the wiring for all 4 jacks joined together somewhere in the walls (lovely !). This means that they all work together or not. This is insane thinking.
