Anybody have a good solution to keep a knife sharp or a really good sharpener? We have the usual knife block for carving, slicing, vege knife etc, and have a sharpener that you drag thru and a small steel to hone. I can get an edge that's okay, but just doesn't last more than a few days. Have tried a stone in t...

Car acoustic insulation
(Preview)
My car was pretty good acoustic wise, but I wanted to improve it regardless. Still going to do a bit more when I find the time, but it is really not absolutely necessary. I have added about 1.8m2 of butyl, you don't need it everywhere. So far about 5.4m2 of acoustic foam & have about another 1.8m2 read...

3-Way Fridge Fire Waiting to Happen!
(Preview)
Hi Nomads, Have you ever removed the grill to expose the rear of your 3-way fridge? Well I had reason to today on a relatively new 9 month old 21'6" van only to find the 240 volt cable running from an internal cupboard was resting against the flu. Fortunately for us we have not used the fridge on gas as yet. ...

Front Galley bench hatch
(Preview)
Hi What have people done to improve their front galley hatch. Ours is really difficult to use as we often have stuff sitting on the bench. It is impossible to keep vegetables in there as it gets too warm from the fridge or AC when in use. I was thinking of removing the basket altogether and just making it...

Jump Start Recharge

Do not forget to give your jump starter a recharge, maybe twice a year. For those lucky enough to own the Greatest Tow Vehicle- LC 200, if fitted with a cargo barrier- the back lift up door will not open if the battery is flat, so find another spot.

Several months ago the float arm in my Thetford C200 cassette dropped out as I attempted to free it up. In the intervening time I spent many frustrating efforts trying refit the float arm back in. I have the tarp, just need to know best/easiest way to attach a "rope" to it, so that it can slide into the rail. Any ideas? Instead of putting up an awkward, awning, with a number of poles, we have bought a gazebo that is erected very quickly. To sit alongside of the van, but needs a tarp over part of it, to...

Water tank guage/level
(Preview)
I have put one of these on the drain plug of my rear water tank. (Kiss) Just turn on the tap to get an accurate water level. And because it's just push on I can simply twist it to drain the tank if needed. More accurate than the 12v gauge in the kitchen. Now adding this one to the front tank which I suspect is not...
